About Access America Transport
Access America Transport is a full service transportation company based in Chattanooga, TN. AAT handles all modes of transportation including less-than-truckload, van, flatbed, and refrigerated / frozen freight. Access America was founded in 2002 by Ted Alling and Barry Large as the Logistics Division of Key-James Brick. Soon after the initial concept, AAT diversified into other commodities and grew quickly.
2003
Miller Welborn and Allan Davis soon joined Access America Transport. Miller brought his many years of knowledge and expertise in owning and running both private and publicly held trucking companies. Allan opened a transload facility and location in Birmingham, AL which allowed Access America to expand its services and diversify shipping capabilities.
2005
Access America started the Government Services division in 2005. The division began hauling freight for the Department of Defense, but quickly diversified into other government agencies. Access America Transport is Power Track equipped, DOD & GSA approved, and GTN compliant.
2006
Access America grew again by opening additional locations in Alabama and Minnesota. Both locations continued to fuel AAT’s strong growth as new markets were opened. Access America also expanded into less-than-truckload (LTL) and heavy haul. An online LTL system was created to allow customers to go online, compare pricing, and book freight instantly. It is very similar to internet travel sites in its ease of use. The software was integrated to work seamlessly with AAT’s load management system.
2007
Access America added three additional locations in 2007. AAT was also recognized as one of the Fastest Growing Companies in the Southeast, named a Smartway approved carrier, and recognized by the NASTC. Access America continued to expand by upgrading and adding additional technology and supply chain management systems.
2008
Access America was certified by Signature Management as ISO 9001:2000 for its quality management systems. The company was also named to the Hot 100 list of the fastest growing companies in the state of Tennessee and ranked as the 4th Best Employer by BusinessTN. In addition, Access America received a 93 anonymous customer satisfaction score from Dunn & Bradstreet.
2009
Access America Transport was recognized by two national publications for its service to its customers and carriers. The company received the Top 100 3PL recognition from Inbound Logistics, while SupplyChainBrain named Access America to its list of 100 Great Supply Chain Partners. In addition, the company was recognized for the second year in a row as the 4th Best Employer in Tennessee and named to the Hot 100 list of fastest growing companies by BusinessTN. Access America Transport also saw substantial growth in its network of truckload carriers, LTL partners and distribution network.
